Religious News Podcast Adds Bible Study

CrossFeed Religious News, the world's only social religious news website and podcast, has just released another first: Bible studies.

CrossFeed Religious News users can submit religious news stories and comment on other stories, voting on the ones they find most interesting. Two Lutheran (LCMS) pastors discuss the top stories in the weekly podcast by the same name.

But as they constantly seek to push the boundaries of technology, the site and podcast have begun providing a companion Bible study to accompany the podcast. Those who subscribe to the podcast will get not only the weekly audio file, but also an accompanying pdf file with questions regarding the stories.

Designed for group discussion, the questions' design specifically encourages the participants to examine the stories and the relevant Scripture passages as they speak to these issues.

"Churches face budget issues all the time, and finding affordable Bible Studies that connect with people can strain that budget," says Pastor Dale Critchley, podcast cohost and Bible study author, "so anyone can download these studies free of charge--we want to help churches."

Since the studies reflect the content of the news stories, users of the studies need not listen to the audio part of the podcast, but the audio may provide insights to enrich the discussion.

Most podcast aggregators, including iTunes, can download both the audio and pdf content at the same time, and users without podcast capabilities can download the files each week directly from the website or subscribe to get updates by email.
