Historic irony

In 1904, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was in a battle with the federal government over the church's definition of marriage -- one man, many wives. In an attempt to force Mormons to obey the federal government's definition of marriage as one man and one woman, an amendment to the U.S. Constitution was proposed. LDS Church President Joseph F. Smith mocked this proposal
