Kathy Griffin's Jesus remark cut from Emmy show

"A lot of people come up here and thank Jesus for this award. I want you to know that no one had less to do with this award than Jesus," an exultant Griffin said, holding up her statuette. "Suck it, Jesus. This award is my god now."

Kathy considers herself a Roman Catholic.

Would this be more scandalous if she'd replaced "Jesus" with "Mohammed" in the speech/tirade?

kathy griffin remark

up until know, I had enjoyed, respected, and even found her an exciting woman. Thats all gone...I wont ever watch her again. As`an agnostic I have come to respect, envy, and love those who maintain a Faith. Her disrespect for those "little" people is so typical of athletes, actors, and those in the public limelight. Loaded with arrogance...and lacking in character and integrity....when she appears on my TV... her appearance will be limited to milliseconds....

Kathy Griffin's Jesus Remark

Are you religious Christian's so insecure in your beliefs that Kathy Griffin's remark threatens you to the point that you decide to hate her, or to boycott her work ? There was humor in her remark. The humor is that it is far too common on award shows, or post-game celebration telecasts for the winners to praise Jesus. For what -- for making that buzzer beating jump shot? Did Jesus choose you to win? Why didn't he support your competitor who believes in Jesus just as much as you do, and who goes to church more often than you do?

Get over it, Jesus people. Believe what you want to believe, but get real. Not everybody believes what you believe. Those of us that don't think it's ridiculous to praise god for helping you make that buzzer beating jump shot, for helping your show win the ratings contest this month. If you won, you probably performed better than your competitor. Period, end of story.

Kathy Griffin's Statement

As a believer, I really care very little if you do not share my beliefs. My faith is betwen my God and me. I would rather see others find the peace, joy, and love I found when I believed, but everyone is free to choose for him or herself. I have no reason to hate anyone who does not share my beliefs because my focus is on a very secure future. I do hate evil and I will never apologize for that. Kathy Griffin's comment was just that...pure evil! The lack of respect for others' beliefs displayed by her remark is just a symptom of her darkened heart and seared conscience. She is on the road to self-destruction. Why should anyone who believes God hate this poor pathetic creature who uses the limelight to shake her puny litle fist at God? As for you, your hatred of Christians is evident in your questions and that is a symptom of your own insecurity. So let us agree to disagree and go our way in peace. After all, we will each stand and give account for our own actions before God. His sovereignty is not dependent upon our acknowledgement of him.
