• Polygamists lobbying their cause at fundraiser

Some of the guests at a fundraiser for the Travis County Democratic party - around a going away party for outgoing chair Chris Elliot - on Tuesday night were surprised to see two women with long braids and prairie dresses lobbying a group of legislators They were, as it turns out, from the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, the polygamist sect in Eldorado where more than 400 children were removed by child-welfare workers several weeks ago on suspicion of child abuse.
