A LEADING academic has claimed the crucifixion of Christ "wasn't as bad as it's been painted".Terry Eagleton, Professor of Cultural Theory at the University of Manchester, said Christ "got off pretty lightly" because it only took him three hours to die.

He's discounting "My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?" Jesus was abandoned/rejected by God. That was the worst part of his suffering. He experienced hell for us.
