Some U.S. cities ring in New Year early

At least two Utah cities are celebrating New Year`s Eve a day early to appeal to Mormons who might frown on revelry on Sunday, officials said.
So people will be hung over on Sunday morning instead? Or it's OK to party on Saturday night but not Sunday night? That just makes no sense, especially given that "Sabbath" observance goes from sundown to sundown.
